KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Two hated hockey rivals opted to put their differences aside less than 24 hours after the deadly shooting rampage in the Kalamazoo area.
Kalamazoo Wings head coach Nick Bootland says Toledo Walleye staff members wore K-Wings shirts and jerseys Sunday night, and both teams stood together during player introductions and the national anthem.
“We got together at center ice and both teams stood there in solidarity, stood there together to show that we’re going to get through this,” Bootland said.
The K-Wings lost the game 2-0, but Bootland said he was proud to represent Kalamazoo that night.
Kalamazoo is in Orlando this weekend to play the Solar Bears.
