KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell says the community has suffered a great injury because of the weekend shooting deaths of six people, but he is also encouraged by the way the city has responded, particularly with an outpouring of support for the victims.
He says social media blew up on Saturday with warnings about a gunman at large.
“We were already wrapping our arms around the community before the suspect was caught,” Hopewell said.
Hopewell also said the “community lock-down” may have even saved a few lives.
