KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Kalamazoo’s now-annual Polar Plunge is scheduled for today at Bell’s in Downtown Kalamazoo.
They usually expect some really freezing temperatures for the short dive into a swimming pool, so extra ice is being added to the water itself, to offset the effects of this unseasonably warm weather.
It’s one of 29-similar fundraisers held annually for the Special Olympics.
This is the 9th time that brave Kalamazoo souls have dressed up in costume and decide to take the plunge.
Registration at Bell’s Eccentric Café begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and the diving starts in the Beer Garden at 10:30. A party will follow inside.
