BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A fire behind the Walmart on B Drive North in Battle Creek sent two people, presumably employees, to the hospital for treatment of breathing problems around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Emmett Township police say a fire broke out in a trash compactor near the loading dock that was being used to crush boxes.
Employees managed to put out the flames before firefighters arrived, but not before one suffered smoke inhalation problems and another had an asthma attack.
Business was not disrupted.
