UNDATED (WHTC-AM) — The National Weather Service has announced its annual weather spotter training schedule.
The classes start next week and run through the end of April at various locations throughout Michigan.
The one-time class lasts less than three hours. Using photos and short videos, National Weather Service meteorologists show cloud formations for thunderstorms, tornadoes, blizzards and other weather hazards.
They’ll train students to measure and log flood and snow depths and how to report damage from other weather incidents.
The classes are free and open to the public. In some cases, limited space means you’ll have to register in advance.
The National Weather Service offers in-person classes and online training.
