CHIPPEWA COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — Authorities say a Calhoun County man has died in a snowmobile crash in the upper peninsula.
The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Louis Monaweck of Battle Creek. Cheppewa County Sheriff’s deputies say that he was piloting one of several snowmobiles in a group traveling single file on a road near Bay Mills on Tuesday when they crested a hill and discovered a pickup coming in the opposite direction.
Investigators say Monaweck swerved to avoid the pickup, fell off the snowmobile and was run over by the truck.
The pickup driver was not cited.
