KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Two Kalamazoo men charged with the shooting deaths of family members have been sentenced after cutting plea deals with the county prosecutor.
Timothy Salo, 30, was given 18 to 40 years for shooting his former brother-in-law, 29-year-old Jason Vanostran, in the head at his mobile home in Kalamazoo Township two summers ago.
Jimmy Thrasher, 75, also agreed to accept a second-degree murder charge for the killing of his ex-wife in their Texas Township home last year. He was given 12 to 40 years in prison.
Both claim the shootings were accidental, but entered guilty pleas anyway.
