KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The city of Kalamazoo has opened a new web portal that aims to improve the quality of discussion about what people want out of their community.
City Planner Rebekah Kik says low attendance at local meetings pressed the city to roll out the “open town hall” section at its website.
“You can get the same questions and information as we would be giving you in a community meeting at city hall, but it’s going to be online,” Kik said.
Kik said social media will be utilized to encourage the discussion. Not only will it be used to promote new surveys, but also to gather responses.
“It’ll be more fun,” Kik said. “Getting the young people involved as well, that would be absolutely fabulous.”
