BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Investigators have confirmed that a fire that heavily damaged a home on Gardenia Street in Battle Creek early Wednesday afternoon was the result of arson.
A boy, 15, is being held for the crime.
They say he used a lighter to start the fire on the front porch of the vacant home. It was reportedly vacant because the suspect’s family had previously been evicted from the place.
The fire spread from the porch to the interior and caused $31,000 damage.
