BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Police have found the getaway car used by a man accused of breaking into an apartment in the 5600 block of Dahlia Drive in Battle Creek and assaulting a male resident there with a knife.
The 26-year-old inside the vehicle was arrested on felony drug charges after officers found two bags of cocaine, marijuana and cash. Not inside was the man accused of the home invasion late Sunday, 27-year-old parolee Bruce Mireles.
Police say the stabbing ended a domestic dispute that was apparently fueled by jealousy. They suspect Mireles kicked in the door of a unit at Brookstone Apartments and assaulted a man who was spending time with Mireles’ estranged wife and child, stabbing the male twice.
The victim jumped from a window to escape.
Battle Creek police say Mireles fled in a white Dodge Charger, which was found Monday night. The victim is in stable condition after surgery at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
