BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputy arrested for drunken driving last month has been bound over to stand trial.
He probably won’t lose his job, even if he is convicted of the misdemeanor. It will mean a black mark on his record and his chance of promotion anytime soon is probably out the window.
David Bowers, 34, was off duty when a Michigan State Police trooper found him passed out at the wheel of his car in Leroy Township last December.
He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The 10-year veteran was taken off street patrol and reassigned to the jail and given a two week suspension.
He will face trial on March 11, unless a plea deal is cut beforehand.
