PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) –Four units at the Davis Creek Apartments in Portage are damaged after a kitchen fire early Sunday.
The 911 caller who first reported the blaze said flames were coming from a pot on the stove in 2D. It spread quickly.
Three minutes later, an on-call firefighter, who was the first at the scene on Meredith Street, found heavy black smoke coming from the back of the building. It took about 45 minutes to put out the flames in the two-story structure.
The fire marshal in Portage will investigate. No injuries were reported.
