KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Two police dogs with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office are now sporting new bullet and stab-resistant vests.
The new work gear for Ajax and Zeus arrived earlier this week from a Central Lake-based manufacturer.
The purchase was made possible thanks to a donation from a Massachusetts-based non-profit called Vested Interest in K9s, which helps police agencies offset costs to armor the furry, four-legged officers.
The group says each vest costs around $1,700 and can weigh up to five pounds.
