PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — The Portage Public Safety fire division says it was able to save a home in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue with a quick response Thursday.
The first unit to arrive at the scene reported smoke coming from the rear of the residence.
Fire crews had the fire doused in ten minutes and began ventilation. There was no one home, but they searched for pets and didn’t find any.
They estimate the damage at about $12,000 and say it began in the basement near a gas dryer.
