KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo City Commission has declared this week to be Hockey Heritage Week to celebrate the Kalamazoo Wings and the team’s contribution to the community.
As part of the celebration, the Stanley Cup, the trophy they give to the champion of the National Hockey League, is spending a couple of days in Kalamazoo.
“I can’t say how proud I am of bringing the Stanley Cup here and having you all declare this as Hockey Heritage Week,” K-Wings staff member Toni Daniels told the commission Monday night.
There will be other hockey-related events also taking place this week, including a hall-of-fame display at the Wings Event Center and a couple of games.
The cup is scheduled to make an appearance on 590 WKZO-AM at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. You can listen here.
