BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — The first trial of former Emmett Township Public Safety Officer Troy Estree has gone to the jury in Calhoun County.
Estree is charged with participating in an eight-month sexual relationship with a female relative, who was 15 at the time.
The prosecutor told the jury that they have detailed testimony of the victim and copies of emails and digital communications between the two that should prove Estree’s guilt. The defense attacked the credibility of the victim and claimed the emails were taken out of context during its closing argument.
Estree, who also faces charges for allegedly sexually assaulting another female relative at a spa in Kalamazoo, will face trial for those claims in April.
