BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A fire has destroyed an abandoned house in the 100 block of Harris Street in Battle Creek.
Firefighters found the residence consumed by flames when they arrived at the scene after 5 a.m. Monday. They snuffed out a smaller fire in the basement the night before.
Investigators say there were no utilities connected to the building.
Battle Creek police had been monitoring the structure for squatters prior to the fire. It remains under investigation.
The damage estimate was set at $25,000.
