KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo’s Red Cross is seeking volunteers to travel to Flint to help distribute water to homeowners there.
The goal is reportedly to have a fresh case on every stoop every day but that can be a daunting task in a community of about 100,000 people. They need people who can help load trucks and drop off the water.
The Kalamazoo chapter has already sent its administrator and several other volunteers to help coordinate oversite of the relief effort.
On Saturday, with the help of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, people from all over the region donated over 40,000 bottles of water, that was loaded into a semitrailer and shipped off to Flint.
Sheriff Richard Fuller says they got donations from as far away as Calhoun and Van Buren counties.
