BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A lawsuit filed by the family of a Calhoun County woman who was electrocuted by a fallen Consumers Energy power line may have been revived by an appellate court ruling.
Catherine Skidmore died in 2011 when she ran across the street on a dark, clear night to warn her neighbor that the line had fallen onto his van.
She ran the wrong way and was killed.
The resulting lawsuit was dismissed, even though experts testified the line likely fell due to a lack of tree-trimming.
Consumers argued the state of the line was irrelevant, but the appellate court has now disagreed.
