KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A Kalamazoo County man has copped a plea following a domestic dispute in May that turned homicidal.
Jimmy Thrasher, 75, claims he was so drunk he didn’t remember what happened when, according to prosecutors, he shot his ex-wife with a shotgun at a home they shared in Texas Township last May.
The only thing he could remember was that both were wrestling over the shotgun when it went off, killing 74-year-old Grace Thrasher.
Prosecutors agreed to let him plead no-contest to second-degree murder and will not make a sentencing recommendation.
Neighbors told investigators that the couple argued frequently.
Thrasher has been held without bail since the killing last spring.
He will be sentenced Feb. 16. It is likely he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
