LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Embattled Gov. Rick Snyder will give his sixth-annual State of the State address tonight, and the national media will be watching.
The media is being assured by his staff that the Flint water issue will be featured prominently in the address and will come up early.
Rep. Jon Hoadley, D-Kalamazoo, said Snyder’s been saying the buck stops with him. He wants to hear what that means.
“The governor has to tell us his plan for how he’s going to fix the Flint problem,” Hoadley said. “And also, what sort of accountability he will bear.”
Rep. Brandt Iden, R-Oshtemo, said he wants to hear about workforce development.
“We need road-builders, we need framers, we need carpenters,” Iden said. “We’ve got to make sure we’re focusing on that. So, I do think that’s going to be part of the conversation as well.”
Rep. John Bizon, R-Battle Creek, thinks, overall, the state of the state is good, given what he’s seen locally.
“I’ve been excited with what I’ve been seeing in the Battle Creek community,” Bizon said.
Demonstrators are expected to brave the cold at the Capitol to express their displeasure at Snyder’s handling of the water crisis in Flint.
The address will be broadcast on 590 WKZO-AM at 7 p.m.
