KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Detroit has its big auto-show. In direct competition — well, at least running at the same time — Kalamazoo will be showcasing one of its major industries during Beer Week.
Just like the auto show, craft brewers will be rolling out new models of the popular beverage, featuring the best of what they have to offer.
The week is also expected to attract people from all over the region.
There is one big difference — you can take the beer home. You have to leave the cars at Cobo Hall.
Renee Newman with Discover Kalamazoo said Beer Week this year includes 300 separate events of varying size and location, all featuring some kind of beer.
“This is the sixth-annual Kalamazoo Beer Week, and it just keeps growing year, after year, after year,” Newman said.
Boatyard Brewing kicked off the event with a new brew and a party Friday night. Like the auto show, it runs through Jan. 23.
More information on the event can be found here.
