BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A 19-year-old from Battle Creek is in critical condition after he was shot in the abdomen early Sunday morning.
Apparently, the teenager is no stranger to local police. In fact, they had contacted with him earlier that day after officers responded to a party on Harrison Street and Tennyson Avenue with noise and parking complaints.
The teen was shot twice in separate incidents last May and September, investigators said.
Police believe the shooting took place in a commercial area near Capital Avenue Southwest and Rittenhouse Avenue. The victim was walking with his brother at the time of the gunfire.
They had to travel to Cleveland Street, which is about a block away, where they called for help after 5 a.m.
No description of the gunman was released. No arrests have been made.
