KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — More kids in Kalamazoo Public Schools will get to see a doctor on a regular basis for the first times in their lives, thanks to a new rolling health clinic funded by the Kalamazoo Foundation and the Kalamazoo Learning Network.
The brightly-painted bus was rolled out this week for the first time. It will be staffed by two teams of three health care professionals, all of whom have expertise in pediatric and adolescent care.
Community Health Center CEO Denise Crawford said they will be supported by workers from Communities in Schools who will make sure that parents give permission for doctors to see their children.
The doctors will handle anything from a playground scrape, to a vaccination, to spotting signs of problems before they become dangerous, or expensive to treat.
