BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — Four Battle Creek Firefighters were injured and a city fire truck may be totaled after the driver lost control on an icy hill racing to a chimney fire a few blocks away on Washington Avenue.
Investigators say the heavy truck slid sideways and tipped onto the passenger side.
All four firefighters were treated for scrapes and bruises and released.
It happened about 1:15 Sunday afternoon to the fire engine which had been assigned to Station 6.
The 17-year-old truck will be carefully inspected before they will decide whether it can be salvaged. Crews from other stations dealt with the chimney fire.
