KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County’s new administrator was in attendance for his first county board meeting Tuesday.
Terrence Neuzil says he’s getting comfortable in his new home, getting use to the weather and making the transition from being an elected administrator in Iowa City, Iowa, to an appointed administrator in Kalamazoo.
He said he turned down four posts, including one in Florida, before taking the job in Kalamazoo because he likes the community.
“I love the people, I love the spirit of the people, I love the fact that you can ask anybody around here what they like about Kalamazoo, and they’ll have an answer right away — the arts, the culture, the business community and the trails,” Neuzil said.
He also said Kalamazoo is ahead of the game on things like the Kalamazoo Promise and public finance, but lagging in others, like the consolidation of the 911 system.
