LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Liberal action group Progess Michigan says House Speaker Kevin Cotter has spent around $77,000 in taxpayer money hiring an outside law firm to advise them on the Gamrat-Courser sex scandal, when he should have used in-house lawyers to do the job.
The group charges Cotter has wasted more money than either of the lawmakers were paid on whether or not the two wasted taxpayer’s dollars.
A spokesman for Cotter says expulsions don’t happen that often and they had to get it right.
They say there is still a cost to using in-house lawyers, and they would have had to hire additional staff for the extra work.
