KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — City commissioners in Kalamazoo will be getting a raise.
It was approved during the commission’s meeting Monday night.
An independent compensation committee recommended the one-percent hike. The panel compared what Kalamazoo Commissioners make to officials in similar cities.
They also considered the work load and the history of pay raises before settling on the hike.
“The percentage is a $100 per year increase for the mayor, an $84 per year increase for the vice mayor and a $74 per year increase for the commissioner,” City Clerk Scott Borling said Monday night.
The raises take effect automatically if a super-majority does not reject the recommendation.
