ALLEGAN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — An Allegan County family reeling from the death of a 15-year-old in a weekend sledding crash may have to endure more pain if criminal charges are filed.
Mason Dykstra was riding on a sled that was being towed behind an SUV that was allegedly being driven by his 19-year-old brother.
It was something that they had been doing for some time. But this time, the sled hit a tree on private property in the 5300 block of 133rd Avenue.
Dykstra was alert when he was loaded into a helicopter, but died before he reached the emergency room.
Allegan County Sheriff’s investigators say prosecutors will review the case.
A GoFundMe web page set up to help defray the family’s costs has raised nearly $26,000.
