BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — Police are looking for a woman who allegedly picked a fight, and then stabbed another woman in a store parking lot on Capital Avenue in Battle Creek just before 10 a.m. New Year’s Eve.
Two bystanders tried to break up the fight but were unsuccessful.
It ended when the woman who allegedly instigated the fight pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the other woman.
The victim claims her attacker was a complete stranger, and that the assault may have been a case of mistaken identity.
The victim is in serious but stable condition with a knife wound to the chest.
Police say the suspect, who fled the scene after the stabbing is described as a heavy-set Hispanic female in her 30’s.
