BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Police in Battle Creek are saying a thief who attacked a Citgo gas station clerk with a hammer early Monday may have been motivated by more than just money.
They say he may have had a beef with the business.
First, he walked in and intentionally made a mess of the coffee station inside the business on Capital Avenue Northeast. He then summoned the clerk and assaulted him.
Detectives think they know who the robber is, and are saying the heist wasn’t random. The suspect is in his 20’s, dressed in dark clothing and had a scarf around his face during the robbery.
He remains at large. The clerk is recovering at home.
