BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Police in Battle Creek are looking for a man who struck a gas station clerk in the head with a claw hammer during a robbery.
It happened at the Citgo on Capital Avenue Northeast at around 3:30 a.m. Monday. The victim was able to call on a passing cab for help after freeing himself from the robber.
When police arrived, the man was gone. A police dog was unable to lead officers to the man.
Investigators say the suspect is between 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing dark clothing and had a scarf around his face during the heist and assault.
The Battle Creek Police Department says the incident remains under investigation.
