BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Police are investgating a violent attempted home invasion in the 100 block of Upton Avenue in Battle Creek early Sunday.
It happened just after 12:30 a.m. According to investigators, three men wearing masks and armed with guns kicked their way in through the front door a home where another robbery had occurred on Saturday.
Despite the show of force, the occupants of the home still managed to escape outside and notify police, who arrived while the suspects were still inside the home.
Two of the home invaders surrendered without incident. The third was sniffed out by a K9 hiding in a crawlspace. He required treatment for dog bites before he was taken to jail.
They are all expected to face multiple charges when they are formally charged on Monday.
Police have recovered the guns, masks and gloves used by the suspects.
While police say they don’t know the motive, they do not think it was a random incident and are investigating to determine if both home invasions are connected.
