KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan University says its pleased with a recent ranking from WalletHub.com, positioning Kalamazoo in the top 10 percent of college towns and cities.
The city beat out Grand Rapids, Detroit and Lansing in the 2015 rundown, settling in 32nd.
WMU spokesperson Cheryl Roland says she’s not surprised by the high marks.
“I think it’s wonderful for the community and it’s a teriffic thing for us to talk about when we share information about the university,” Roland said.
Roland also said WMU will be using the results to recruit students to the school.
The city finished favorably because its cost of living, tuition rates, availability of part time jobs and social opportunities.
Ann Arbor finished on top.
