KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A man from Calhoun County is being hired to head up the effort to consolidate Kalamazoo’s emergency dispatch centers.
It’s a project that has been unsuccessfully pursued for nearly two decades. But now, Jeff Troyer, who successfully did the same thing in Calhoun County, has agreed to take the Kalamazoo gig.
As WKZO-AM first reported, he was initially offered the job in October.
Troyer is currently the director of dispatch for Calhoun County after merging three centers.
The goal in Kalamazoo will be to take five aging and incompatible 911 systems and combine them into a modern facility that can handle texts, email and video.
