LANSING (WKZO-AM) — A measure that would allow employers to pay 18-year-old and 19-year-old workers a lower minimum wage was pulled off the schedule on Wednesday, but could be put back up for a vote Thursday.
Margaret O’Brien of Portage, who put the bill together, calls it a “training wage.”
The proposal has resulted in protests and petition drives on the Western Michigan University campus, with younger students saying they shouldn’t be forced to take less from the workforce for similar work.
