KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — It was an underwear party. There were refreshments, drinks, and even a live band — but everyone was fully clothed.
It was Ministry With Community’s annual collection of underwear, including boxers, briefs and long johns, gloves, scarves and winter hats to help the homeless try to keep warm this coming winter.
Director Rob Oakleaf said Monday night was not your only opportunity to contribute.
“We will continue to have boxes throughout the community,” Oakleaf said. “And, of course, any time people want to want to drop off donation at 440 N. Church St., we’re open every day of the year.”
He says the items will be sorted by volunteers, put into packages and handed out Christmas morning to the clients at their daytime shelter.
Additional drop-off locations can be found at the organization’s website.
