KALAMAZOO (WKZO)– A rally and a march was held Friday evening urging Congressman Fred Upton to use his position as chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee to do more to reverse climate change.
Attending the demonstration was Democratic challenger Paul Clements, a WMU Professor who is challenging Fred Upton for his Seat this coming November,
He says he is encouraged by discussions this week at the Paris Climate Summit because UN members will leave talks next Friday with first-time-ever binding commitments from advanced and developing countries to reduce emissions.
House Republicans approved legislation earlier this week blocking some federal greenhouse gas regulations.

The study shows average fuel economy on new cars sold in November dropped by one-tenth of a mile per gallon to about 25MPG because SUV and Pick-up sales continue to climb.
Researchers say it’s a trend that began in August of last year.
Auto Analyst John McElroy says at least they aren’t the gas guzzling land yachts that used to cruise the nation’s highways. Today’s SUVs are smaller, lighter and more fuel-efficient.
Earlier this week, Ford projected its SUV and pickup truck sales will continue to grow as consumers take advantage of cheaper fuel prices
