KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A 16-year-old boy who was under the influence of controlled substances is in custody after leading police on a 40 mph chase through residential neighborhoods in Kalamazoo Township.
It started in the 500 block of Wallace Avenue at around 3 a.m. Wednesday after an officer noticed the vehicle driving erratically.
Marijuana, methamphetamine and a 12-gauge shotgun were found inside the vehicle after the suspect, an adult passenger and two children fled on foot, ending a two-minute pursuit.
The suspect and the passengers were later found by police dogs.
The adult passenger, a male, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The suspect was taken to a hospital before being transported to the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home.
The two other children inside the vehicle were released back to their parents.
