GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — U.S. Attorney Pat Miles is asking a judge to reduce the sentence of a former Christian disk jockey found guilty of child molestation by 20 months, after he cooperated with authorities in the arrest and conviction of another man.
John Balyo was sentenced to 40 years in prison by a federal judge for molesting a young boy at a Kalamazoo motel and photographing the crime. He sent some of those pictures to Donald Rabideau Jr. on a laptop, then provided the information to authorities as part of his plea deal.
It subsequently led to further investigation and the eventual prosecution of Rabideau.
If the motion is granted, Balyo will become eligible for parole when he is 73, instead of when he is 75.
