KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Arson investigators with Kalamazoo Public Safety are taking a closer look at a suspicious vacant house fire at Mills Street and Washington Avenue.
The fire marshal has been called to figure out how exactly it started, but investigators believe the fire at the two-story structure northeast of Portage Street and East Stockbridge Avenue was intentionally set.
Firefighters were met with flames spilling from the residence after 11 p.m. Sunday. They were able to snuff out the fire without getting hurt, but also said it took a while to get the blaze under control because of the size of the home.
A damage estimate has yet to be released.
