DEARBORN (WKZO-AM) — AAA expects statewide gas prices to remain below $2 a gallon through the holidays, despite fears over a looming price hike.
Spokesperson Susan Hiltz says the Michigan average slipped another penny to $1.80 on Monday.
“The statewide average daily gas price hasn’t been this low since Feb. 25, 2009,” Hiltz said.
Hiltz also doesn’t expect prices to spike any time soon, despite some gas stations selling gas at a loss.
“The incidators we have right now are oversupply of gasoline, lower crude oil prices and lower demand,” Hiltz said.
GasBuddy.com says the Kalamazoo average is $1.68. In Battle Creek, the average is $1.79.
Analyst Patrick Dehaan says a spike is coming soon but he expects the price to remain below $2/gallon.
