BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Probate and Juvenile Court judges say it’s the happiest day of the year in their courtrooms, as they clear their dockets and focus on adoptions.
It was the 13th-annual Adoption Day in Calhoun County. This year, they were able make adoptions official for seven children, many of whom had been in the foster care system for a while.
Health department officials in Calhoun and Branch counties say the yearly event highlights the need for foster parents in the state.
Some 2,400 children in Michigan are eligible for adoption.
