BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A suspected serial burglar is jailed after a morning standoff with Battle Creek police at a home on Minges Road.
Several police cruisers and an armored vehicle surrounded the residence near Capital Avenue Southwest at around 6 a.m. Wednesday after a neighbor called 911. The person told dispatchers they saw someone enter the home moments after the homeowner left for work.
When officers arrived on scene, they confronted the suspect as he was leaving the home, prompting him to go back inside.
A pair of guns were inside the residence.
The suspect surrendered at around 8:30 a.m. He was found hiding in the home’s basement.
Police say he was a suspect in several other residential burglaries.
