KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo Salvation Army has kicked off their annual Red Kettle Campaign over the weekend.
Their goal this year is to raise $160,000 dollars for their annual activities and Christmas charities. They provide toys for 5,000 needy children, as well as winter coats, gloves and scarves.
They also serve holiday meals and help the underemployed with heating bills.
This year, businesses and schools have customized their own kettles and will be competing for a traveling trophy.
It’s the 129th-annual drive in Kalamazoo.
The Salvation Army says it could use volunteer bell ringers to help encourage donations. Those interested can call call (269) 743-0834.
