CENTREVILLE (WKZO-AM) — There will be no trial for the suspect in the Jody Parrack murder.
Daniel Furlong, 65, has confessed to the crime and an attempted assault against the Constantine girl. Before it’s all over, he may also confess to other crimes spanning back decades.
It’s all part of a plea deal. In exchange for a guilty plea to a single count of second-degree murder. All other charges will be dropped.
Furlong will also be given immunity for any other crimes in St. Joseph County that he confesses to committing down the road.
It was the assault on MacKenzie Stafford last summer that exposed Furlong to authorities, and, more importantly, a DNA swab that matched him to the genetic information recovered from the body of Parrack, 11, in 2007.
Furlong avoids life without parole, but, at the age of 65, he will still likely die in prison. He could get up to life when he’s sentenced on the second-degree murder charge on January 11.
Investigators plan to put Furlong on a polygraph and ask him about the Brittney Beers disappearance, a cold case in Three Rivers from 1997 that has never been solved.
