CENTREVILLE (WKZO-AM) — The family of an 11-year-old who was kidnapped, murdered and dumped in the Constantine Township Cemetery in 2007 says they’re hoping for a stiff sentence against the child’s killer.
Jodi Parrack’s grandmother, Linda Allbaugh, says Daniel Furlong caused great pain to her family.
“She was just a special person and she never got a chance in life,” Allbaugh said. “He took all those things away.”
Furlong faces a life sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree murder Thursday as part of a deal with prosecutors. The deal grants him immunity against other crimes he previously in St. Joseph County.
Furlong was linked to Parrack’s death after DNA recovered from her body matched genetic material from a swab that was taken from the 65-year-old after he was arrested for attempting to kidnap and sexually abuse another young girl in his garage in August. Everyone arrested for a serious crime in Michigan is now required to give a DNA sample as part of the booking proceedure in Michigan.
