BENTON HARBOR (WKZO-AM) — A man suspected of kidnapping a worker from a St. Joseph assisted living facility at gunpoint Wednesday morning has been shot to death by police at a motel outside Benton Harbor.
It happened during a standoff at the American Inn at East Napier Avenue and Interstate 94, with the suspect opening fire after being confronted by officers.
The victim, who investigators believe is the suspect’s ex-wife, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
