KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Gas prices have sunk below $2 a gallon in parts of west Michigan.
AAA says gas prices statewide have dropped 17 cents per gallon in the last week. There are a few stations in Plainwell and Benton Harbor and several on Kalamazoo’s west side where the promise of $2 gas has become a reality.
It’s a nickel to a dime above the $2 mark at most other stations. AAA says the statewide average is $2.17 for self-serve regular.
They say refinery maintenance is coming to an end and the global glut of crude oil continues, putting a lot of downward pressure on prices.
