VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A car chase that turned into an extended foot race has resulted in a drug bust and a pair of arrests in Van Buren County.
A deputy spotted a car driving erratically at about 2 p.m. Sunday, crossing the centerline on 27th Street. The deputy, Eric Calhoun, followed the white Toyota onto 20th Street, where it sped away.
It pulled into a driveway in the 28000 block, and the passenger jumped out and fled on foot.
Calhoun chased the 27-year-old for over a mile before he caught up and made the arrest.
Deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana, an active methamphetamine lab, drug components, a digital scale and an open beer in the car.
The driver, a 29-year-old woman, was arrested for possession and not having a valid license. The passenger was arrested on several drug counts and for resisting arrest.
